Quick Tips for Conducting Employee Performance Appraisals

Employee performance, or the lack of it, has a great impact on an organization's success. Although it is as important as managing financial resources and program outcomes, it often gets less attention. For guidance on how employee performance appraisals can help enhance communication between staff and managers, overcome challenges and align staff responsibilities with broader goals, consult the latest issue NGOConnect eNews.

Each issue of NGOConnect eNews, a free online newsletter issued by the Capable Partners Program, concentrates on a single topic in one of seven capacity-building domains: compliance, external relations, financial management, human resources, monitoring and evaluation, program management and governance. Synergie d’Action pour la Formation et le Développement

In an area of Senegal that has experienced decades of armed conflict and crisis, DGP Grantee Synergie d’Action pour la Formation et le Développement (SYAFD) is making a big impact by sharing resources and knowledge to help local NGOs achieve their goals.

Since 1999, SYAFD, a capacity-building service provider, has worked in and around the country’s second largest city, Ziguinchor, to create a more united, vibrant and effective civil society. Through workshops, training, radio programming and one-to-one assistance, SYAFD is bolstering the institutional capacity of local NGOs and enabling them to fulfill their missions more effectively.

With funding from the DGP, SYAFD is leveraging the expertise of CAP’s Regional Technical Advisors to expand the depth and breadth of the interventions and services SYAFD can in turn offer to local NGOs. In December 2010, SYAFD launched an NGO resource center. For the first time, local NGO professionals have a place to gather regularly to share lessons learned, to network, research and apply for funding, and take advantage SYAFD’s technical assistance services.
